In this video, Dr. Mast talks about the use of surgical robots.
He’s following the evolution of the technology closely, but for now, he finds that he can perform better than the robots in terms of the final clinical result he achieves.
He did however adopt computer guidance early on to replace the old overlays. Before the availability of this technology, he would trace patients’ X-rays and overlay them to compare the hip on the surgical side to the opposite side to make sure the leg length and offset were accurate. This process is done digitally today.
